Couple of days ago, while I was walking at the bank of Brahmaputra River near Zainul Abedin Park, Mymensingh, Bangladesh, I have seen an interesting celery like plant.
The leaves were like carrot leaves, branches were relaxedly arranged, beautiful flower, seemed, they are enjoying the sunbath.
My son was accompanied me then, he asked about it. But I have no idea about its identity. Later I searched in several online databases. It is commonly known as cursed buttercup or crowfoot buttercup. In Bengali, it is known as Jaldhania (aquatic coriander).
It has lavishly spread all over the world, probably by water, in all continents.
Malabar melastome or the Indian Rhododendron is often confused with the Purple Glory. The former is botanically known as Melastoma malabathricum, whereas, the later is known as Tibuchina granulosa.
Both are belonged to Melastomataceae family. The stem, leaf and flower are almost look similar between these two species, but they have clear difference for stamen.
In case of Melastoma malabarthricum, stamens are yellow in color, and filaments are shorter compared to Tibuchina granulosa. The stamens of Tibuchina are white colored, with longer filament.
Melastoma malabarthricum A.K.A. Indian Rhododenron is a weed, or grows naturally in forests, hilly areas. But Tibuchina granulosa A.K.A. Begum Bahar A.K.A. Purple Glory is considered as a ornamental plant.
Common Name: Malabar melastome or Indian Rhododendron
While roaming near the research field of Bangladesh Agricultural University, I have been always looking for plants with no care, i.e. the weeds.
Today, I have captured a plant with beautiful mesmerizing pink flowers, lush green leaves, commonly as Fulkuri, Dochunti, Bhurvushi, Uchunti etc. in Bangladesh. Here are some pictures and IDs of the captured beauty.
Common name: ফুলকুড়ি, দোচুন্টি, ভুরভুষি, উচুন্টি, White weed, Appa grass,
Conyzoid floss-flower, Bastard agrimony
Scientific name: Ageratum conyzoides L.
Family: Asteraceae
Location: Research Farm, Bangladesh Agricultural University,
While captured in 2007 at Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea, I recognized its botanical family, as Asteraceae by its leaf structure and floral biology. It is some kind of marigold, but no one could confirm the name of flower then.
The picture has been stored in my hard disk, and recently came to the surface while I was looking for some old photos of my elder kid. Now, with the help of Google Lens, ID of plant is confirmed. Its indeed a marigold!
Common Name: Khaki-weed, Mexican marigold, Aztec marigold, Chinchilla, Dwarf marigold, False marigold, Khaki bush, Little marigold
Botanical Name: Tagetes minuta
Family: Asteraceae
Location of capture: Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea
It's a roadside beauty, blooms mostly at Spring (February and March). Look at the skeleton like plant structure, where only a few leaves can be found, but yellow flowers are appeared like stars!
রাস্তার পাশের এই গাছে পাতা কম, কংকালের মত শরীরে তারার মত ফুটে আছে শুধু ফুল আর ফুল।
Often it is mistakenly identified as wild strawberry, but actually it is not. Wild strawberry have white flowers, while mock strawberry have yellow. Mock strawberries grow upwards while wild strawberries grow down. They may be difficult to spot among the leaves.
Last week I was walking through the narrow walk way at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Botanical Garden, and found two dazzling pink beauties, first one was a creeper, and second was a shrub. Out of habit I felt curious, snapped them, and later on searched for their identity.
Here are two pink beauties:

Its quite fortunate that people haven't forgotten this blog, and I am getting notifications frequently on their visit. Thanks google search for keeping this irregular blog in their regular searchable areas.
Today, I am going to post some flowers which are not of any agricultural use, but might be grown as ornamental plant, or spontaneously grow as weed in Bangladesh. Those, who are familiar with tropical floras, might not be surprised.

I cant believe it........ I am posting something after a long long long hibernation. It was actually not full hibernation, bcz I have edited my blog title, and shuffled with some design template as well, and most importantly snapped lots of flower pictures. But it took me more than two years to post something.... Anyway want to be regular from now on..........
After A Longtime............ again some flowers got the chance to open their face through my blog (those are already familiar with webblog by other naturebloggers). Now, I have many flowers in my storage disk and I am planning to post all those in a regual intervals.
Here are some.............. All were taken at Perth, Western Australia.
Spring is knocking at the door, so I have to prepare myself to frame lots of flowers. This is the first step of preparations, uploading rest of the flower pictures I have taken during winter time. i couldn't identify couple of flowers, those are also here to catch your attention.
