ফুলের রং ছবির মত সাদাও হয়,আবার পাপড়ির গোড়ার দিকে নীলাভ বা হালকা বেগুনী রংয়েরও হয়ে থাকে। পথে, ঘাটে ও ফসলের ক্ষেতে দেখতে পাওয়া যায়।

Flowers with zero care ...1

While roaming near the research field of Bangladesh Agricultural University, I have been always looking for plants with no care, i.e. the weeds. 

Today, I have captured a plant with beautiful mesmerizing pink flowers, lush green leaves, commonly as Fulkuri, Dochunti, Bhurvushi, Uchunti etc. in Bangladesh. Here are some pictures and IDs of the captured beauty.

From archive of 2007, the wild marigold from Busan, Korea

While captured in 2007 at Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea, I recognized its botanical family, as Asteraceae by its leaf structure and floral biology. It is some kind of marigold, but no one could confirm the name of flower then. 

The picture has been stored in my hard disk, and recently came to the surface while I was looking for some old photos of my elder kid. Now, with the help of Google Lens, ID of plant is confirmed. Its indeed a marigold!

Two mundane beauties from last spring

 

Common Name: Asiatic hawksbeard

বাংলা নাম: পিতাড়ু, ইয়াংগাফুল

Scientific Name: Youngia japonica (L.) DC

Family: Asteraceae

Flowering time: February and March

Location: Farm Road, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh

It's a roadside beauty, blooms mostly at Spring (February and March). Look at the skeleton like plant structure, where only a few leaves can be found, but yellow flowers are appeared like stars!

রাস্তার পাশের এই গাছে পাতা কম, কংকালের মত শরীরে তারার মত ফুটে আছে শুধু ফুল আর ফুল।

Common name: Mock strawberry, Indian strawberry, False strawberry

Scientific name: Potentilla indica

Family: Rosaceae

Location: Farm Road, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh

Often it is mistakenly identified as wild strawberry, but actually it is not. Wild strawberry have white flowers, while mock strawberry have yellow. Mock strawberries grow upwards while wild strawberries grow down. They may be difficult to spot among the leaves.

Two pink beauties from Botanical Garden

Last week I was walking through the narrow walk way at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Botanical Garden, and found two dazzling pink beauties, first one was a creeper, and second  was a shrub. Out of habit I felt curious, snapped them, and later on searched for their identity.

Here are two pink beauties:

পঞ্চমী গাছ,  Pentas Plant

            পঞ্চমী ফুল, Common centaury flower

Common name: পঞ্চমী, Pentas, Starcluster, Common centaury, European centaury

Scientific name: Centaurium erythraea

Family: Gentianaceae

Location: BAU Botanical Garden,  Mymensingh

Some ornamentals, some mundane from BAU Botanical Garden!

Its quite fortunate that people haven't forgotten this blog, and I am getting notifications frequently on their visit. Thanks google search for keeping this irregular blog in their regular searchable areas.

Today, I am going to post some flowers which are not of any agricultural use, but might be grown as ornamental plant, or spontaneously grow as weed in Bangladesh. Those, who are familiar with tropical floras, might not be surprised.

Five little flowers went out one day....................

I cant believe it........ I am posting something after a long long long hibernation. It was actually not full hibernation, bcz I have edited my blog title, and shuffled with some design template as well, and most importantly snapped lots of flower pictures. But it took me more than two years to post something.... Anyway want to be regular from now on..........
